An announcement article published the day after the first public
demonstration of the revolutionary transistor in a number of different
applications at Bell Telephone Laboratories. This article was buried
on page 46 of the New York Times. Had the editors known the impact that
the transistor ended up having on the world, it would have been
front-page news!
