K & M Electronics KM-220 "Computer" Announcement
The KM-220 Computer was billed as a general purpose computer. The interesting
part about this machine is that the arithmetic processing unit of the
computer is based on the Wang 360E
electronic calculator electronics package. K & M electronics integrated the
Wang 360E calculating unit into their machine, along with a Teletype Model 35 teleprinter, and a unique read/write magnetic strip memory system, to create
a small computer that was primarily suitable for use in small business
applications. The KM-220 was introduced in May of 1968, but did not become
available for order fulfillment until later in the summer.
