SCM Marchant 616 Printing Calculator Advertisement
January, 1969
The SCM Marchant 616 is the first internally-developed printing electronic
calculator from SCM. The earlier
Cogito 566PR
was an manufactured by Diehl in West Germany and
sold/serviced by SCM in North America under an OEM agreement between
SCM and Diehl. The 616 uses a printing mechanism that is made with all plastic
moving components, limiting its long-term reliability, but significantly
reducing the cost. The 616 utilizes small and medium-scale integrated circuit
technology. The machine appears to have been introduced in the latter part
of 1968.
