Rockwell Acquisition of Lamson Industries Calculating Machine Subsidiaries
Modern Data, November, 1973
Rockwell International acquired the three subsidiaries of Lamson Industries,
Ltd. of London, England, related to the development, manufacturing, and
distribution/sales of calculating and computing devices. Lamson Industries
was a large conglomerate that was the parent of quite a number of diversified
businesses. Among these were Sumlock Comptometer, Ltd., Sumlock Anita
Electronics, Ltd., and Ruf Organization, Ltd. Sometime in early 1973,
a proposal was floated for US conglomerate Rockwell International to acquire
these calculating machine companies from Lamson Industries. In the fall
of 1973, the acquisition was completed, and these companies became part
of Rockwell International.
